The Wheel is perhaps one of the most versatile and visibly recognizable tarot spreads. Second only to the Celtic Cross, this
has been seen in many, many movies in wherein a tarot reading features. An excellent tool for many different focuses, the
Wheel is perhaps most commonly used to look at the influences over the next year.

As with other tarot spreads, the Wheel has a card for the Querant. It is located at position S. It will present information
about the person for whom I am reading, the matter I am reading upon, and various other pertinent details.
This spread is very simple to read. There are several different styles of reading it, I use two of the more popular methods.
The first is to look at each card in the spread from position 1 to position 12 as the months of a year, starting
at the month that the reading is given in. Each card gives an indication of the major factors to be considered and highlights
of the month they land in.
The second style is to split the circle of cards into quarters. The first quarter indicates the beginning phase of the issue
at hand. The second quarter of the circle indicates the work or efforts that are required for the matter. The third quarter
shows how interpersonal relations and social interactions will shape the issue. The final quarter tells us how the matter
will be resolved.
The first style lends itself well to questions focused upon how the events of a year are going to play out. I like to use
this spread on my birthday each year to get an indication as to what things I need to watch for and keep in mind over the
next year. The second style is excellent for focusing upon tasks and projects.
