The Elemental spread is a fairly versatile spread that is surprisingly detailed for how short it is. It has come into popularity
over the past few decades of tarot reading in at the same time that there has been a rise in the popularity of occult studies.
Many occult systems of study divide the world up into a collection of Elements, like the classical ones of Earth, Air, Fire,
Water, and Spirit/Aether. This tarot spread applies this system of division to allow one to see the different forces at play
in a given situation.

The card at position 1 gives the outcome of the reading and summarizes the other four cards.
The card at position 2 indicates the forces at play within the arena of Air. This describes intellectual matters, communication,
and the psyche.
The card at position 3 indicates the factors at play within the arena of Fire. This describes the activities one would
be engaged in, work, and one's physical interactions. Yes, this does include one's sex life.
The card at position 4 indicates things at play within the arena of Water. This details spiritual matters, emotion,
psychic gifts, and occasionally travel.
The card at position 5 indicates the matters at work in the arena of Earth. This focuses upon the physical body, finances
and wealth, family, and property.
I like to use an additional set of 5 cards. These are placed face down at each position. For each of the Elemental cards,
it describes the hidden things at play. The card that is face down at position 1 illuminates the root of the matter
that is being read upon. This can present some fact or detail that has been hidden from you as to how this situation developed,
it can also present the hidden motivations behind the question asked for the reading.
I will always ask if you would like for that card to be revealed, as it is a private thing and one that you may not desire
me to know.
